Meet the Doctors
Paul Northup, D.D.S.
Dr. Paul Northup received his undergraduate degree at Western
Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended dental
school at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and
completed his residency for endodontic certification at the
University of Nebraska. Dr. Northup has been practicing endodontic
dentistry in western Colorado since 1994 and is a member in
good standing of:
- The American Association of Endodontists
- The American
Dental Association
- The Colorado Dental Association
In 2008, Dr. Northup was named by his peers as one of Colorado’s
best dentists as reported by topDentists, a firm that gathers
listings of the best dentists across the nation.
Dr. Northup lives in Grand Junction, Colorado where he enjoys
hiking, biking and golf, and spending time with his three daughters:
Kristi, Stephanie and Susie.
Robert Chavez, D.D.S, M.S.
Dr. Robert Chavez is a Colorado native, born in the San Luis
Valley and raised in Denver. He attended the University of
Colorado at Denver and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery
degree from the University of Colorado Dental School in 1993.
Following graduation, Dr. Chavez accepted an Officer’s commission
in the United States Navy and proudly served in both San Diego
and Okinawa, Japan until 1998. Dr. Chavez returned to the University
of Colorado Dental School where he taught Endodontics as a
full-time clinical professor. In 1999, he began a three-year
residency at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston
where he not only received his specialty certificate in Endodontics
but also a Masters of Science Degree for his scientific research
in human immunodeficiency virus. Dr. Chavez resumed private
practice in Denver, CO but was drawn to the Western Slope and
relocated to Grand Junction in late 2003.
Dr. Chavez is a member in good standing of:
- The American Association of Endodontics
- The American Dental
Association
- The Colorado Dental Association
In 2005, Dr. Chavez was appointed to the State of Colorado
Board of Dental Examiners as a special consultant in Endodontics
for the Western Slope.
In his spare time, Dr. Chavez enjoys an active lifestyle
of jogging and hiking. He is also a fully licensed (5th Degree
Black Belt) Martial Arts instructor in Samurai and Ninja combat
systems.
Eric Barnhurst, D.D.S.
Dr. Eric Barnhurst grew up in Southern Colorado. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. Dr. Barnhurst graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. He then attended a general practice residency program at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Denver. Upon completion of the residency program, he accepted a staff position at the hospital to assist in training new residents. He then decided to specialize in endodontics and completed an endodontic residency program at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Barnhurst worked as an associate in a specialty office in Philadelphia before returning to Colorado to continue his career.
Dr. Barnhurst is a member in good standing of:

- The Colorado Dental Association
In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, fly fishing, snow boarding and spending time with his wife, Megan, and their three children.
